Passport by Molina Healthcare (“Passport”), in collaboration with The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), announced a donation to the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund and the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky in the wake of severe flooding in eastern Kentucky. The $50,000 donation will be allocated to the two entities in direct support of families who have suffered loss because of the natural disaster.
Severe flooding in mid-February caused multiple deaths throughout the commonwealth. First responders have performed over 1,000 rescues in the Appalachian region. The Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund is distributing dollars to the families of those who died in the floods to cover funeral expenses. Additional donations will support families displaced by the disaster.
“Many of the Kentuckians impacted by this natural disaster are our members, co-workers, family, neighbors and friends, and we are committed to helping them recover from this tragedy,” said Nicole Basham, chief operations officer for Passport by Molina Healthcare. “By supporting these two relief funds, we ensure every dollar goes directly to those who need it as they begin to rebuild their lives.”
“We are deeply grateful to Passport and MolinaCares for their generous support in response to the devastating flooding across Appalachian Kentucky,” said Kristin Walker Collins, CEO of Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky. “This gift will provide critical assistance to families impacted by the disaster, helping them recover and rebuild. Passport’s continued commitment to this region means so much as our communities face yet another challenge. We truly value their partnership and trust in ensuring that help reaches those who need it most.”
Passport and MolinaCares have frequently donated funding and other resources to Kentuckians affected by natural disasters. In 2022, $100,000 was donated in support of eastern Kentucky residents recovering from historic flooding in the Appalachian Mountains. Donations totaling $240,000 were made to multiple organizations following deadly tornadoes in western Kentucky.
