What Happened?

On July 1, 2025, the National Energy System Operator in the UK published a report stating that a fire on March 20, 2025, that resulted in Heathrow Airport shutting down, had been caused by a known fault at an electrical substation owned by National Grid, which had been aware of the problem since 2018 but failed to fix it.

On this news, National Grid’s stock price fell $3.77, or 5.1%, to close at $70.61 per share on July 2, 2025, thereby injuring investors.
