This week, XPRIZE announced that Mati Carbon, a graduate of the AirMiners Launchpad accelerator program, as the winner of the $50M grand prize in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition, the largest single incentive ever offered for climate innovation. The prize recognizes Mati Carbon’s enhanced rock weathering process, which converts atmospheric carbon dioxide into stable minerals while improving smallholder farmers’ yields and enhancing their livelihoods.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) has selected AirMiners as a finalist in the Direct Air Capture (DAC) Pre-Commercial Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Prize. AirMiners will receive a $300,000 cash prize for being selected as a Phase 2: “Move It” winner and will advance to Phase 3: “Prove It.” Earlier this month, AirMiners was awarded a $150,000 prize from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Round 3.

AirMiners will receive a $100,000 cash prize for being selected as a Phase 1: Think It winner and will advance to Phase 2: Move It.

In a move that is the next step in the evolution of AirMiners to unlock the massive potential of carbon removal, AirMiners today announces the launch of its pilot Kiloton Fund, a test facility for its Megaton Fund.

Today, the $100M XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition announced 15 milestone award winners. Of those, 10 are AirMiners members, two are graduates of the AirMiners Launchpad program, with a third joining the upcoming batch. Each of the winners was awarded a $1M prize to support their exceptional work on carbon removal solutions.

Funded by Elon Musk and the Musk Foundation, the $100M XPRIZE Carbon Removal is the largest, most audacious incentive prize in human history. To win the five-year competition, teams must demonstrate solutions that permanently remove carbon dioxide and reduce the impact of climate change.
